Green County Chapter

GREEN COUNTY
Green County was largely untouched by the Green Bay Lobe of the late Wisconsin Glaciation. At its maximum extent roughly 15,000 years ago, this lobe crept southwestward only as far as the village of Brooklyn. Earlier glacial advances did, however, cover most of the county. The northwestern part of the Green County is part of the famous Driftless Area.

Most of the Ice Age Trail in Green County utilizes portions of the Sugar River rail-trail. The Trail passes over rushing streams, through picturesque rolling hills, dairy farms, verdant meadows, and state wildlife refuges. A multitude of wild edible plants can be found along this wildlife corridor during warmer months.
