TAYLOR & PRICE COUNTIES
The Chippewa Lobe of the recent continental glaciation dramatically shaped the topography of most of Taylor County. As it melted, the glacier left behind a hilly terrain full of lakes, erratics and eskers. Much of the Trail in Taylor County lies within the end moraine zone near the recent glacier's southern-most extent.

Some of the wildest experiences to be had along the Ice Age Trail can be found in the Chequamegon National Forest and Wood Lake County Forest of Taylor County. These are large blocks of forested public land. The only toilet facilities in either of these areas are at the north end of Mondeaux Flowage and at the western edge of Wood Lake, respectively. The Mondeaux Dam Lodge was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC).

Leading north into Price County, Timm's Hill National Trail is a 10-mile spur trail, for non-motorized traffic, connecting the Ice Age Trail to Timm's Hill, Wisconsin's highest point.
