Please review this agreement before downloading Ice Age Trail GIS data.
The Ice Age Trail GIS data, developed cooperatively by the Ice Age Trail Alliance, Inc. and National Park Service Madison Trails Office (NPS), represents the most current digital depiction of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail centerline and its trail features. Locational information used to create these data sets were obtained from global positioning systems (GPS) survey data collected between 1998 and 2008 and supplemented with information digitized from USGS topographical maps. All data are in Wisconsin Transverse Mercator (WTM) format, using the North American Datum 1983 (1991 update), and all units are in meters.
These data sets were developed to provide a digital depiction of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail centerline and several of its trail features in an usable and easily transferable format to assist Ice Age Trail Alliance, Inc. staff and agency partners with land-management duties; to aid local planning agencies, telecommunications companies, and other groups with planning activities, such as siting telecommunication towers or other new developments that could have a substantial impact on the Ice Age Trail; and for scientific and educational use by universities and other groups.
To access and use these data, we ask that you agree to the following liability disclaimer and that you use proper citation (see metadata for details) on any materials (digital or printed) in which this information appears, and that you use the data appropriately. Since the Trail and its features change over time, please be aware that periodic revisions will be made to these data sets. Please check this Web site from time to time for the most current data.
