INFORMATION ABOUT THE AREA: The Holy Hill Segment passes through a mostly forested landscape across the glacial terrain that surrounds Holy Hill. The segment route offers just a few openings with views of glacial kame Holy Hill and the shrine and monastery that sits atop it, 1350 feet above sea level. Glacial geologists estimate at the time of the Wisconsin Glaciation, the thickness of the glacial ice extended another 1000 feet above Holy Hill. Glacial erratics are a common trailside sight in this area and several spur trails offer vistas of the surrounding landscape.
