Chippewa Moraine Chapter Trail Improvement Project
The Ice Age Trail doesn't just happen, and it doesn't take care of itself! Join us as we patrol the trail to clean up fallen trees and do small remedial projects along the way. Marquette Chapter - Garlic Mustard Pull - John Muir Park
Help restore John Muir's boyhood home and help make the hike around Fountain Lake (Lake Ennis) even more enjoyable. We're teaming up with the Prairie Sands Chapter of The Prairie Enthusiasts to survey and identify garlic mustard and begin implementation of management strategies toward its removal. Bring gloves, long sleeves, parsnip shovels, other shovels, sturdy shoes, lunch, lots of liquids... and binoculars for the birds. Join with members of the Waushara County Chapter and Wisconsin Family Forests at the Bohn Lake State Ice Age Trail Area to help control and hopefully eradicate the invasive Garlic Mustard plant. The meeting site will be at the Trailhead on County Highway "B", 1/2 mile north of County Highway "C" or 3/4 mile south of County Highway "V". Mobile Skills Crew Trail Building Event - Murphy Flowage Recreation Area, Rusk County
Come join the fun as we return to Murphy Flowage Recreation Area in Rusk County. Tasks at hand include crafting a signature 36-foot-long pedestrian bridge and relocating and upgrading existing trail to enhance hikers' experiences in this beautiful area.
We'll provide meals and a place to camp for event participants. You are welcome to come for all or any part of the event, and no previous trail-building experience is necessary!

Teacher Workshop and FROG HIKE with Randy Korb. The teacher workshop will take place from 3:00-6:00 at the Westfield High School Library and the live frog presentation and frog hike will be from 7:30 to 9:30. The presentation will begin at the Westfield High School and than transition to an outdoor natural area. Rubber boots, flashlights or head lamps, bug spray., change of cloths for young kids, layers depending on the weather. Appropriate and great fun for kids and adults of all ages. Ice Age Trail Hike, Marquette Segment with WI Go Hiking Club
An exploratory hike with the WI Go Hiking Club along the Portage Canal to Governors Bend County Park (round trip from Portage). Meet at the parking lot at the North end of Agency House Rd in Portage between 10:15 and 10:30 am. Directions: From the intersection of Hwy 22 and 33 (North of Pardeeville, West of Portage), head West on 33 towards Portage. Just after the Portage Canal, turn right (North) on East Albert Street then quickly turn right (N.E.) on Agency House road. Trailhead parking is at the North end of Agency House Road. Bring lunch and water. Waterproof boots are recommended - just in case. Great walk for birding. 8-10 miles/Rating 3.0 |
