Kewaskum Segment Moonlight Hike.  Join us on our Chapter's most popular hike.  We will meet at the IAT parking lot on Ridge Road near Sunburst Ski Hill.  We will shuttle to Hwy 45 & H and then hike back 2.2 miles to the parking lot.  The first 1/2 mile will be on new trail built in 2008.  Hike is rated moderate due to hills.

  Waukesha/Milwaukee Chapter Puncheon Construction

Join us for some work and some fun installing an 8 foot puncheon structure over a wet area in the Waterville Segment.  Tools are supplied; just bring sturdy workboots, work gloves, a water bottle, and insect repellant.  Additional cordless drills would be helpful for attaching the decking.  Meet at the north trailhead of the Waterville Segment, 1.5 miles south of hwy 18 on Waterville Road.  Look for the yellow Ice Age Trail Event signs.  Only roadside parking is available.

Come join us for a morning of work on the spectacular Holy Hill Segment.  Various projects are available for all abilities.  We need to rehab about 100’ of trail using four step technique. We will also be clearing some vegetation blocking a great view and working on a short trail re-route.  Plenty of work for many helpers.  Bring water, bug spray, boots and gloves.

Meet at the Station Way picnic area trailhead.  Take Holy Hill Road (State Hwy 167) to the Holy Hill area.  Turn south onto Station Way Road. Station Way Road is 1/4 mile east of Carmel Road and the main Holy Hill entrance.  Station Way Road dead ends at a picnic area and our trailhead.

Create, support and protect — the Ice Age Trail Alliance's mission statement comes to bear at all Mobile Skills Crew projects. This event in the Village of Cross Plains promises to be a multifaceted blockbuster.

Come on out for all or any part of the event...whatever amount of time your schedule permits is valuable to us. We'll feed you and, if you are interested in helping for multiple days, provide a place to camp close to the work site.

Participants interested in trail building will receive hands-on training in advanced trail construction techniques by volunteer crew leaders as part of our Mobile Skills Crew program. No experience is necessary! If trail building isn't your cup of tea, we have plenty of other roles for you, including volunteer support and event publicity.

  Grand Opening of Ice Age Trail Alliance's New Main Office Building
The Ice Age Trail Alliance has taken a big step forward over the past year by establishing a new main office at 2110 Main Street in Cross Plains, WI. The new office allows nearly all our staff members to work together under the same roof, is located directly on route of the Ice Age Trail and is located in a community that has welcomed us warmly. 

We hope you'll join us on July 18th as we officially open the office with a brief ceremony and open house.

  NEW statewide event: Chillin' on the Ice Age Trail
We hope you'll join us the weekend of July 31st-August 2nd for an exciting new event — "Chillin' on the Ice Age Trail".

The purpose of the event is to provide a cool opportunity for Ice Age Trail fans to introduce their families and friends to the Ice Age Trail. We'll gather at the Mondeaux Flowage (Chequamegon National Forest, Taylor County near Medford) for a weekend of fun, food and friends. Specific activities include the kickoff of our ColdCaching program (an earth-science educational program for exploring, discovering and enjoying Ice Age Trail treasures), guided hikes, informational presentations and activities featuring art, photography and geology.

Volunteers are the backbone of this event. We welcome anyone who wants to lend a hand. Contact volunteer Leah Bradley (414-760-7976, haelyeldarb4@bluefrog.com) if you'd like to get involved.

  Prairie Wildflower Hike

Enjoy a summer hike along the Ice Age Trail through the prairie at Lapham Peak State Park.  Volunteer, Mike Fort, will accompany us as we identify prairie plants and learn about the on-going prairie restoration process he oversees.  Meet in the Evergreen parking lot at 11:00 am.  A seasonal state park sticker or daily fee is required.  Passes can be purchased at the park office.  Water bottles, hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, comfortable footwear, and bug spray are recommended.  Lapham Peak State Park is located off of I-94, one mile south of Delafield on Hwy C.  For more information, contact Kris at krjonorthlk@yahoo.com or 262-966-9788.

Join in the evening activities on August 1st, from 8:00 PM to 10 PM.   Washington Co. Workday - Holy Hill Segment

The DNR is opening a new trailhead parking lot on Shannon Road to allow easy access to the IAT's Holy Hill Segment.  Our job is to build a spur trail from this lot to the IAT built by MSC volunteers in 2006.  Work will include tread work, brushing, lopping, post installation, etc.  Lots to do on this short segment.  Bring gloves, boots, water, bug spray and a snack.

Meet at the new Shannon Road trailhead parking lot.  From the corner of Hwy 167 and Hwy K, go north on Hwy K for 1/2 mile.  Turn east onto Shannon Road.  Go east another 1/2 mile.  Parking lot is on your left.

Experience the zen of trail maintenance at a trail improvement day! Get in the zone doing light trail work and enjoy working with others. Meet at the Chippewa Moraine Visitor Center at 9:30 AM and bring a lunch and water, wear boots and gloves, and be prepared for the bugs. Stay the morning or into the afternoon if you can. Holy Hill North Segment hike.  Join us for a summer evening hike on the hills south of Pike Lake.  Meet at the DNR's parking lot at the beach at Pike Lake State Park.  We will shuttle to Pleasant Hill Road then hike back 4.0 miles to the beach area. Hike is rates as moderate due to distances and hills.  A state park sticker is required.
