Spring Wildflower Walk, Central Moraines Chapter
May 21, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Spring Wildflower Walk!
Join Central Moraines Chapter volunteers, Saturday, May 21, as we amble along the Plover River Segment of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail to view the amazing spring flowers in bloom.
We’ll take our time, smell the wild ramps, observe, and (hopefully) identify the early spring ephemerals. This spring wildflower walk will be an out-and-back saunter (a slow-paced walk). Distance will be determined by event participants on the day of the hike.
The wildflowers we’ll watch for are early emerging plants found in this area: wild ramps, wild ginger, bloodroot, hepatica, trout lilies, blue cohosh, dutchman’s breeches, squirrel corn, false rue anemone, trillium, spring beauties, early meadow rue, Solomon’s seal, false Solomon’s seal, large-flowered bellwort, miterwort, Virginia waterleaf, maidenhair fern, wild sarsaparilla, Baneberry, and more!
