Dane – Celebrate Spring: Help Prepare Fire Breaks

March 28 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

We got a good start last weekend on preparing fire breaks at several of our preserves so that we are ready to burn prairies and oak savannas when the weather is auspicious to do so.

We will continue preparing fire breaks at several sites this weekend: Springfield Hill Dane County Wildlife Area, Liebetrau Prairie, Andersen/Hickory Hill, Valley View, and Moraine Kettles Preserves, and Prairie Moraine County Park while complying with the Dane County Health Order prescribing social distancing during out door events.

Where we will work :  We may do work at two sites simultaneously — it will depend on weather conditions and how many people can help on each day (Friday, March 26 – Sunday, March 28).

Supplies: Chainsaws, brush cutters, leaf blowers, and rakes will be helpful tools to bring if you have them.  I will have rakes, loppers, and hand saws.

RSVP: Please let me know if you can help on Friday — Saturday — and/or Sunday: Gary Werner: [email protected], 249-2421.

If you will be joining us for the first time at an event and you are not an Ice Age Trail Alliance member, please fill out the fillable Volunteer Services Agreement Form and email it (along with any questions) to Dan Watson, ([email protected]).

Additional information for first-time volunteers.
