Dane County Chapter – Plant New Prairie at Prairie Moraine

January 2 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

This Thursday, January 2,2020, I’m planning to take advantage of the warmer weather and melting snow to seed in a large section of the western Moraine at Prairie Moraine County Park, and hope you’ll be able to join us.  Dane County Parks had a bountiful collection of seeds this year, and about 100 pounds of it came to us to over-seed the top of the Moraine that has been mostly Indian Grass before.
We’ll meet at the old parking lot (IAT lot) at PM County Park at 9:00 am.  Operation Fresh Start will have a crew of 4-6 joining us, and we could use an additional 6-8 people to help.  This will be a large project in 3 parts and could last into the afternoon depending on how many people help.  I’ll supply seeds, buckets, and sawdust.  You should wear warm clothing (sunny, low 40s), but not fuzzy outerwear that the seeds could stick to.
Bring a lunch if you can stay into the afternoon.  We’ll take a noon break, and we’ll be near the parking lot so you could easily get back to your car to go get some fast food at one if Verona’s many finer restaurants. If you want to come a bit later – feel free- we’ll be easily visible on the hillside above the parking lot.
Please let me know if you can join us – it will help greatly with planning.
