Dane County Chapter – Savanna Clearing, Holmes Preserve
November 9, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
The northern half of Table Bluff is the Holmes Preserve. This work expands the western edge of the property.
This Saturday, November 9th we will resume our fall and winter work of removing invasive buckthorn, honeysuckle, and other shrubs and trees in the oak savannas and woodlands on the hillsides of the Holmes Preserve along the Ice Age Trail. We have a variety of tasks to do to rescue the overgrown white and bur oak trees in these savannas and woodlands and make it easier to control garlic mustard and other herbaceous invasive weeds and shrubs. Help us continue our work of improving these oak savanna restoration areas.
I will have herbicide, loppers, and brush cutters. Please bring a brush cutter and/or chain saw if you have one.
Bring plenty of water and food for yourself, work gloves, and dress in layers appropriate for the weather. I will bring some food and drink to share.
Please let know if you can help on Saturday for any part of the day.
