Dane County Chapter – Woods Restoration
September 1 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm
In the 11 years since this mile-long section was built, buckthorn and honeysuckle have taken root. Continue work on the northeast end of the woods to enable ease in walking to make garlic-mustard harvesting easier for the future. This area will also continue to improve the drainage of the woods.
If the roadside ditch has water in it, the entrance to the woods will be underwater as well. We’ll work in an area that isn’t wet. We’ll be cutting trees that are 1″ to 5″ in diameter, cutting them into roughly 4′ sections and then stacking them in piles.
What to bring: fluids and a snack, loppers, gloves, long-sleeved shirt. The woods are largely bug free right now.
I will start the work day at Hwy A on a special project, then move over to Piller Roads when complete. I will likely be in the woods already at 10. Follow the route along the corn field.
