Dane County – Help Clear Boardwalk Route, Montrose North

March 1 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

For the past several years, farm fields draining have flooded the eastern entrance of the Piller Road woods. Some tall marsh grass has a brush pile which needs to be burned to provide clear access for the May volunteers. Some box elders are also in the path of a reroute to avoid the worst of the draining water.

Swampers are needed to move the downed trees to one of two burn piles. Please wear non-synthetic materials as outer layers. A sweatshirt over other layers is often a great pairing. Bring work gloves.

Several volunteers were out a week earlier to begin marking the area for prairie expansion, so the snow has been fairly well tamped down. Snow in the woods isn’t as deep as out in the open.

Alternate work day is March 6.

Additional information for first-time volunteers.
