Dane County Oak Savanna Restoration -Springfield Hill
November 15, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
This Sunday we will resume our work cutting/treating/piling invasive brush at Springfield Hill. Specifically, this week we will be cutting and piling invasive brush and trees inside the woods edge along the north edge of the big Ag field to facilitate winter work days where Tom’s bobcat will be used to assist with removal of the walnut trees along that field edge. We need help cutting and piling brush, and treating the cut stumps. Certified sawyers please bring a chainsaw and PPE. There will be plenty of hand work for others.
Bring work gloves, sturdy boots, safety glasses, a face mask if you are using one, long-sleeve shirt, and plenty of water and food. We do observe “social distancing” etiquette.
The forecast is for pleasant cool weather this weekend, so dress in layers appropriate for a cold start and warming weather during the day.
MEET: Sunday at 9:00 AM at the trailhead parking lot on Ballweg Road (north of US Highway 12). Springfield Hill is located about 15 miles northwest of Middleton on USH 12-turn right at Ballweg Road
Please let me know if you can help on on Sunday so I can be sure to have enough tools.
Thanks for your help and Happy Autumn!
