Dane Trail Corridor Clearing, Cross Plains Reserve
March 30 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
Although social trails traverse parts of the Cross Plains Ice Age National Scientific Reserve, there is no official Ice Age Trail there. That will change in June, when Mobile Skills Crew volunteers from around the state converge to build the first section on land Dane County bought a few years ago. In advance of their arrival, there’s lots of clearing work to do along the corridor of the planned trail, which passes through some extensive buckthorn stands. We’ll do more of that work today. We need trained, experienced chain sawyers with proper PPE, as well as volunteers willing to haul and pile the slash and apply stump herbicide. We will burn piles if we still have snow cover. Park at the new lot (map/directions) on the south side of Old Sauk Pass.
