Dane – Holmes Prairie, Table Bluff
February 27 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
This Saturday, February 27th help us continue our ecological restoration work in the Holmes Preserve while complying with the Dane County Health Order prescribing social distancing during out door events. We will resume our restoration of the northern oak savanna by removing buckthorn, honeysuckle, and other invasive shrubs and trees. Our goal is to clear the one remaining area of the invasive shrubs to transform this entire hillside into an open oak savanna/prairie.
We will burn slash piles so wear an outer layer of cotton or wool — no synthetic parkas that will burn easily. If you want a hot lunch you can bring food to cook over the fire. Sawyers please bring your saws.
We will walk about 1/8 mile in to the worksite mostly on a section of the Ice Age Trail that is well packed, so the footing will be good.
MEET: 9:00 AM Saturday in the Ice Age Trail parking lot on Table Bluff Road in the Town of Berry.
Thanks for your help and Happy Winter turning to Spring!
