Dane – Lodi Marsh Workday
January 31 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Please join us for a workday at the Lodi Marsh State Wildlife Area Sunday, January 31. We will meet at the Coyle Rd parking lot off of Hwy 113 (here) at 9am. All-day or morning-only volunteers welcome.
We will continue clearing out savanna to the west of the parking area and south of Dave’s Field, and we will burn slash piles that we made in October. If you have a chain saw and protective gear, please bring them. There is also plenty of hand work to be done. Avoid synthetic clothing that can be damaged by embers.
The weather forecast calls for a fair amount of snow overnight on Saturday. We may have to be a bit flexible on parking on Coyle Rd. Bring plenty of water as always and a lunch if you are planning to stay for the afternoon. The slash piles can be used to cook lunch. Please bring your own food to cook to minimize multiple contact of items in the cooking area.
RSVP Required: Jon Bishop, 608-225-8005 to plan equipment and arrange the work plan to keep people socially distant. Please wear a facemask during the initial meeting and anytime when adequate social distance cannot be maintained. Those occasions should be minimal.
We have made excellent progress on restoration in and around the Coyle Rd/DCA section of the trail over the last couple of years. Plans have been developed to burn the area this spring. Please help us keep things rolling. I hope to see you Sunday.
