Dane – Mammoth’s Back

February 6 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

On Saturday, February 6, we will continue rescuing the goat prairie remnant on Mammoth’s Back hill in the new preserve along Black Earth Creek, acquired by the Ice Age Trail Alliance early last year. We will remove cedars, buckthorn, honeysuckle, and other species. Winter workdays mean no biting insects!

Winter workdays with snow cover also means we’ll burn slash piles, so wear natural fiber clothing (wool, cotton) for your outer layer.

MEET: Saturday at 9:00 AM on the north side of Stagecoach Road just west of the gravel quarry in the Town of Cross Plains. All-day or morning-only volunteers welcome.

RSVP Required (so we bring enough tools and can let you know of any weather related or other changes in the plans for the workday): Gary Werner, [email protected] or 249-2421 home

Thanks for your help and Happy Winter!

Additional information for first-time volunteers.

Interested in receiving email notifications about workdays? Contact Megan Schliesman ([email protected]) and ask to be added to our “Stewardship” email group.

[Editor’s note: With so many fantastic volunteers, during the past 5 months we are currently at the point of restoration we expected to be at 2 years from now!]
