Our restored prairies and savannas require much attention, especially in their early years, to rid them of wild parsnip, yellow and white sweet clover, burdock, mullein, curly dock, Japanese hedge parsley and other invading exotics.  There may be some infestations suitable for power brush cutters as well as hand work.   Bring sturdy boots or shoes, long-sleeved shirt, long pants, gloves, brimmed hat, water, sun screen and insect repellant (for chiggers and perhaps mosquitoes).  If operating power equipment, bring eye and ear protection as well or ask in advance if available.

We’ll be concentrating on sweet clover, parsnip and hedge parsley at this time of year.  If we get lucky and run out of work on the east side, we may drive around to the Twin Pines lot on Lodi-Springfield Rd. to work on the west side weeds in the afternoon.
