Dane Savanna Clearing, Brush Burning, Cross Plains Reserve

January 21, 2019 @ 9:00 am

As our service on the Martin Luther King Jr holiday, we’ll be working on the Wisconsin DNR portion of the Reserve on the north side of Old Sauk Pass.  We’ll need properly trained and equipped chain sawyers, plus those willing to use hand tools and haul and pile the cuttings.  Recent snow should permit us to burn many of the piles we have built in past workdays.  Some of the slopes here are steep, so sturdy boots with good traction are a must.  Microspikes may be helpful, too.

Please note that we will be working here today instead of Shovelers Sink as listed on the printed calendar because we cannot work on U.S. lands during the federal government shutdown.  We will be working as DBR volunteers without federal workers compensation injury coverage, also due to the shutdown.
