Dane Tree Felling, Brush Burning, Timber Lane

January 13 @ 9:00 am

We’ll be working on the west side of Timber Lane, just south of where it turns west 90 degrees and becomes Old Sauk Pass, and just north of the old farmstead.  We’ll need properly trained and equipped chain sawyers, plus those willing to use hand tools and haul and pile the cuttings.  We’ll burn piles with proper snow cover, including several we made last year in our first workday here.  This site is at a corner of land bought from a developer several years ago, with much difficulty, by Dane County, to be part of the Cross Plains National Ice Age Scientific Reserve.  Without the Great Recession, it would be McMansions by now (you can see one less than half a mile south)!

Parking may be a bit difficult.  It’s along the Timber Lane shoulder and you’ll need to get off pavement, a little north of the map marker, which is at an approximate address.
