Fall Colors Hike – Northwoods Chapter

October 8, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Fall Colors Hike

Grandfather Falls Segment

Please join us as we explore the Grandfather Falls Segment. The fall colors should be peaking at this time. View the unique boulders and sculptured rock formations cause by thousands of years of cascading water at Grandfather Falls Dam – the largest waterfall on the Wisconsin river, with a total drop of 89 feet, and listen to the roar of the water over the rock formations as you traverse along the Wisconsin River.

Following the hike, we invite you to explore the newest Ice Age Trail Community of Merrill. The Merrill Trail Community Celebration is taking place from 4:30 – 6:30 pm at Sawmill Brewing Company. Stop by and talk Trail with other outdoor enthusiasts, meet Monty, our mammoth mascot and enjoy light refreshments.

LOCATION: Meet at the Camp Newwood County Park parking area on Hwy 107, at the south end of the segment. Watch for yellow “Ice Age Trail Event” signs.

HIKE DESCRIPTION: We will hike approximately 3-miles along the Wisconsin River, with an option of hiking another out and back section through the school forest if attendees want to go farther.

WHAT TO BRING: Wear comfortable hiking boots and dress appropriately for the weather. Bring water and insect repellant.
