Summer school is in session at Gibraltar Rock. Learn new skills and hone techniques at a variety of sessions, including Working with Youth, Tread 101, First Aid, Camp Chef and more – there’s training for you!
The IATA provides food, tools, and campsites free to all who volunteer. No previous experience is necessary; training is provided by certified volunteer crew leaders. There will be roles for all ages and abilities.
Schedule:
Courses begin on Wednesday, July 22, and conclude Sunday, July 26. You are welcome to register for as many or as little courses as you like (note that many last a full day). Read the course descriptions [PDF] to learn more.
What to Bring:
- We recommend a long-sleeve shirt and pants for trail work. Plan for variable weather – bring warm layers and rain gear.
- Sturdy hiking or work boots (no tennis shoes) and leather work gloves.
- Day pack, water bottles, insect repellant, sunscreen and a hat.
- If camping, bring a headlamp, tent, sleeping gear and toiletries. Consider bringing a lawn chair; you’ll appreciate having it to relax around the fire in comfortable clothes at the end of the day.
Special Notes:
Thanks to the National Environmental Education Foundation and Toyota Motor Sales USA, Inc. for their financial support in making food, tools and campsites free of cost for our volunteers.
We love dogs, but we ask that you not bring them to this event. Woolly mammoths are welcome.
