Lodi Valley Chapter Full Moon Hike – Hunter’s Moon

October 16, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Lodi Valley Chapter Full Moon Hike

Some Native American tribes referred to October’s Moon as the Full Hunter’s Moon as it was the time to go hunting in preparation for winter. This full Moon is also called the “Travel Moon” and the “Dying Grass Moon.”

Join the Lodi Valley Chapter on a gorgeous fall hike under an October sky.  The moon hangs in the sky all night long; it rises just after sunset and sets around sunrise.  This is the type of full moon night that will have you humming strains of Van Morrisson’s famous song, Moondance.  “Well it’s a marvelous night for a moondance, With the stars up above in your eyes…”

The hike begins 7:00 p.m. from the Slack Road Trailhead of the Gibraltar Segment of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail.

Dress for the weather and it’s always a good idea to bring a headlamp.
