Spring Clean-Up: Blue Hills and Superior Lobe Chapters

May 4, 2023 - May 7, 2023

Ice Age Trail Alliance, Ice Age National Scenic Trail, Sawyers, swampers, corridor clearing, storm damage

What We’re Doing

If you’re a certified sawyer or swamper, we especially need your help! We’re heading up to the Blue Hills (Rusk County) and Superior Lobe (Barron and Washburn counties) Chapters for some trail clean up. Due to extensive winter storm damage on the Blue Hills and Hemlock Creek segments, we need extra volunteer help to clear the trail and get it ready for hiking season. We also need help to fix tread and update signage on the Bear Lake segment due to logging damage. While we’re there, we’ll do some spring cleanup on the Grassy Lake segment. Come join us for either project!

Schedule and Registration

Blue Hills and Hemlock Creek Segments, May 4-7

Get ready to put your chainsaw skills to use!  These workdays will focus on working with the Blue Hills Chapter to clean up the Northern and Southern Blue Hills and Hemlock Creek segments following winter storm damage. Contact Dave Caliebe, Trail Program Manager, if interested in joining us for this project.

Bear Lake and Grassy Lake Segments, May 4-5

These workdays will focus on working with the Superior Lobe Chapter on spring cleanup, including chainsaw work, signage, and tread repair on the Bear Lake and Grassy Lake segments. Contact Lisa Szela, Volunteer Support Coordinator, if interested in joining us for this project.
