Trail Construction – Ice Age Complex at Cross Plains
October 28 @ 9:00 am
Trailbuilders Unite! Join us to help finish off trail construction (tread work) on a few remaining sections from last week’s extremely successful (and fun) Mobile Skills Crew event. We will be working on DNR property – creating new hiking trails on Cross Plains State Park land adjacent to National Park Service land at the Ice Age Complex. Note that the trail system can be accessed from Old Sauk Pass Rd., but we will be meeting at North Birch Trail cul-de-sac and walking not very far at all to get to our trail work sites.
Project Time: Saturday Oct. 28 9:00 am – 1:00 pm (feel free to leave early if needed, but best if you can arrive prior to 9:00 start so that you can get tools and find us out in the woods). If you arrive late, call Andrew at 608-333-9896 for instructions.
Volunteer Meeting Location: Near 4166 North Birch Trail, Cross Plains 53528. Meet in cul-de-sac at south end of North Birch Trail (0.4 mile south of intersection with Old Sauk Pass Rd.). There is no parking lot – park along side of this very quiet road. From Hwy 14 turn onto Stagecoach Rd., then immediately go south on N. Birch Trail for 1.2 miles.
Minimum age of Volunteers: 12+ with adult supervision
Instructions and notes: Wear work clothes and tough shoes, bring your own leather work gloves (or we will have some to lend). Dress in layers; good to also bring water bottle and a snack (we will have extra water). Feel free to bring or share a small daypack, sunscreen, hat. We will supply all needed hand tools. No rain in the forecast but if there is only threat of rain we will still work.
RSVP: You are welcome to come even if you didn’t respond in advance, but to help with planning, a quick email to firstname.lastname@example.org is appreciated.
