Trail Improvement – Washington/Oz Co Chapter
May 3 @ 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm
We will be working on the West Bend segment both north and south of Highway 33. We will address areas where the trail is eroding and cut back brush. Near the highway there is also some trash to pick up. On the south side, we will mow and cut down brush on land that will be the future site of the trail (Marth property).
No previous experience is necessary; training is provided by certified volunteer crew leaders. There will be roles for all ages and abilities. Tools will be provided.
LOCATION: Meet in the parking lot near Culver’s, on the north side of Highway 33 west of US 45, West Bend. Click here for driving directions. Watch for yellow “Ice Age Trail Event” signs.
WHAT TO BRING: We recommend wearing a long-sleeve shirt, pants, and hat for trail work. Sturdy hiking or work boots and leather work gloves are also recommended for some tasks. You may also want to bring a bottle of water, backpack, insect repellent, and sunscreen.
RSVP: If you are planning to help, please RSVP with the number of people attending by May 2nd to the chapter email ([email protected]). This allows us to plan how much work to tackle and the number of tools to bring.
NOTE FOR NEW VOLUNTEERS: If this is your first time volunteering for the Ice Age Trail Alliance, or if you haven’t completed the latest version of the 301a Volunteer Agreement form released November 2021 (has an expiration date of 10/31/2024), you MUST download the form and fill it out. (Old versions of the form are no longer valid and new ones must be submitted no later than July 2022. Also, please use the 301a form linked here which includes pre-populated fields for the Ice Age Trail.) The instructions for completing this form and the form itself are found here. The form can be submitted electronically to the National Park Service as described in the instructions, or you can print it out and bring it to the worksite.
