Trail Improvement – Washington/Oz Co Chapter
April 19, 2022 @ 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm
We will be working on the newer portion of the Kewaskum segment along the Sunburst ski slope. Traffic bond (gravel) will be added to muddy spots and the trail will be widened where needed. We will address a steep section of the trail at the top of the ski hill. We may also have a crew spread traffic bond to level the Kewaskum segment parking lot on Ridge Road.
No previous experience is necessary; training is provided by certified volunteer crew leaders. There will be roles for all ages and abilities. Tools will be provided.
LOCATION: We will park in the southernmost Sunburst (ski hill) parking lot off Prospect Drive, Kewaskum. Click here for directions to the meeting location. Watch for yellow “Ice Age Trail Event” signs.
WHAT TO BRING: We recommend wearing a long-sleeve shirt, pants, and hat for trail work. Sturdy hiking or work boots and leather work gloves are also recommended for some tasks. You may also want to bring a bottle of water, backpack, insect repellent, and sunscreen.
RSVP: If you are planning to help, please RSVP with the number of people attending by April 18th to the chapter email (email@example.com). This allows us to plan how much work to tackle and the number of tools to bring.
NOTE FOR NEW VOLUNTEERS: If this is your first time volunteering for the Ice Age Trail Alliance, or if you haven’t completed the latest version of the 301a Volunteer Agreement form released November 2021 (has an expiration date of 10/31/2024), you MUST download the form and fill it out. (Old versions of the form are no longer valid and new ones must be submitted no later than July 2022.) The instructions for completing this form and the form itself are found here. The form can be submitted electronically to the National Park Service as described in the instructions, or you can print it out and bring it to the worksite.
