Trailbuilding: New Hope-Iola Ski Hill Segment, Waupaca and Portage Counties
June 22 @ 8:00 am - June 26 @ 12:00 pm

This 1.5-mile reroute at the Iola Winter Sports Club will create a more enjoyable experience for hikers and skiers. Join us to build brand-new tread through the pines and away from established ski trails.
The new route will keep intersections with other trails to a minimum and provide unique views of the surrounding area. So, whether you’re under the shadow of the 60-meter ski jump, resting alongside a cacophonous wetland, or trekking through this segment’s big terrain, there is something at this project for everyone!
What We’re Doing
We’re starting from scratch as we build new Ice Age Trail from the trailhead near County MM toward Stoltenberg Road, creating a permanently protected route through the ski hill property. Chainsaw and grubbing crews will clear the corridor ahead of tread crews busily constructing the path. Alongside a picturesque wetland, a boardwalk crew will build a 100-foot-long structure – with a bump out for enjoying the melodic murmur of songbirds and frogs.
All Talents and Abilities Welcome!
As with all Mobile Skills Crew events, no experience is necessary. There’s a role for volunteers of all ages and abilities. Hands-on training provided by certified and friendly volunteer crew leaders will help you get started right away.

To help us plan this event with your needs in mind, please register by Sunday, June 19.
