Washington/Ozaukee County Chapter Mid-Summer Hike

July 14, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

The hike will be 4.8 miles in length. We will shuttle to New Fane parking lot and hike back. Dogs are welcome, but must be leashed and under the owner’s control at all times.

LOCATION: Meet at the parking lot off Hwy H (Badger Rd) at Oak Drive, west of the Milwaukee River. Click here for driving directions. Watch for yellow “Ice Age Trail Event” signs.

WHAT TO BRING: Wear comfortable hiking boots and dress appropriately for the weather. Bring water, insect repellent, sunscreen and your camera!

INFORMATION ABOUT THE AREA: From the Eisenbahn State Trail, the Milwaukee River Segment heads east then south, skirting a wetland mitigation site. The Trail crosses a boardwalk, cuts through woods and along the edge of a field and then enters a forested area. As the segment meanders through the Kettle Moraine State Forest, it crosses a wet area on a curving boardwalk and travels below and alongside a ridge, gradually climbing to the ridge until the segment reaches an open field just before crossing Sandy Ridge Road. The open field offers nice long views of the surrounding fields and forested hills in the distance.
