Washington/Ozaukee County Chapter Winter Hike
December 1 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Strap on your snowshoes or throw on your hiking boots and join us for a 4.4 mile round-trip hike at the Polk Kames in Slinger. The kames should be very easy to see through the bare trees.
LOCATION: Meet at the DNR’s Hwy. NN parking lot, 1/2 mile east of Hwy. 144. A Wisconsin state park sticker is not required. Click here for driving directions. Watch for yellow “Ice Age Trail Event” signs.
WHAT TO BRING: Wear comfortable hiking boots/footwear and dress appropriately for the weather. Winter weather can be unpredictable and the trail can be icy this time of year. Bring water and your camera!
INFORMATION ABOUT THE AREA: The Cedar Lake Segment highlights several of the Polk Kames while traversing agricultural fields, wetlands and mixed forest of old oaks, sugar maple, white birch and beech. During the winter, the north and east sides of the kames retain snow later in the season.
