Washington/Ozaukee County Chapter – Trail Improvement Work Day – Pike Lake Segment

June 22 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

What:  We will work on reestablishing two staircases.  Originally built of wood, many of the steps have returned to nature.  Repair and replace steps as needed with locally sourced stones.

When & Where: Meet at 5 PM; park along Glassgo Road north of CTH E.  Click here for driving directions.  GPS coordinates 43.398078, -88.210718.  Watch for yellow “Ice Age Trail Event” signs.

What to Bring: We recommend wearing a long-sleeve shirt, pants, and hat for trail work.  Bring a face mask or face covering in case it is necessary to work closely with others.  Sturdy hiking or work boots and leather work gloves are also recommended for some tasks.  You may also want to bring a bottle of water, backpack, insect repellent, and sunscreen.

COVID-19 RISK MITIGATION ACTIONS: Social distancing will be practiced, with volunteers spread out at different locations on the trail. Face masks will be required if working in close proximity to other individuals on the same task.  We will follow all the other risk mitigation actions recommended by the National Park Service in the COVID-19 JHA.
RSVP: If you are planning to help, please RSVP with the number of people attending by April 26th to the chapter email ([email protected]).  This allows us to plan how much work to tackle and the number of tools to bring.

NOTE FOR NEW VOLUNTEERS: If this is your first time volunteering for the Ice Age Trail Alliance, or if you haven’t completed a new 301a Volunteer Agreement form after May 2020, you MUST download the form and fill it out.  (Forms submitted prior to May 2020 are no longer valid.)  The instructions for completing this form are found here.  The form can be submitted electronically to the National Park Service as described in the instructions, or you can print it out and bring it to the worksite.
