Waukesha/Milwaukee Chapter – Hartland Walking Club – Hartland Marsh Preserve

January 12 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

The Hike:

We will be hiking through a hardwood forest featuring ancient bur oaks on the John Muir Overlook, a trail loop linked (across Cottonwood Avenue) to the Hartland Segment of the National Ice Age Scenic Trail and possibly north into the Waukesha Land Conservancy property. This trail is located in the Hartland Marsh Preserve, nestled between the Lake Country Industrial Park and the Gleason Commerce Center in Hartland. The Bark River meanders through the middle of its protected 180 acres. It is overseen by the Waukesha County Land Conservancy in partnership with the Ice Age Trail Alliance and the Village of Hartland.

This easy-to-moderate hike will last approximately 2 1/2 hours. Participants can elect to head back to the starting point at any time. Dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes/boots. Bring water. Jeff Romagna and the Hartland Recreation Dept. organized this hike. Register in advance (ensure that you receive notification in the event this hike is postponed or canceled) or simply show up at our Cottonwood Wayside starting spot. There is no fee for this activity.

This hike will start out at the Cottonwood Wayside.
