The Hike:

Explore the National Ice Age Trail with us! This month we will be hiking the Stoney Ridge Segment near Eagle. This segment connects directly to the Blue Spring Lake Segment to the west and to the Eagle Segment to the northeast. Many enjoy it’s wide and gentle footpath and it is a particularly popular and well-traveled segment as the state forest headquarters and museum is located at it’s center.

The State Forest Headquarters is an interesting stop along the IAT. It has a museum dedicated to wildlife, geology, and local economic history. The display cases feature a number of artifacts found along the Ice Age Trail.  A gift shop as well as flush toilets and a water bottle refill station are available there.

Our leisurely-paced hikes are usually 3 to 4 miles long depending on the group we have and how far everyone wants to go. Bring water. Please dress for the weather as our hikes are held in all types of weather. We will cancel if weather or conditions are unsafe. These hikes are are free, and advanced registration with the Hartland Rec Dept. is preferred. All ages and abilities are welcome, however, ages 17 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Follow us at Hartland Walking Club on Facebook for more details and to stay updated on what’s happening. Jeff Romagna and the Hartland Recreation Dept. organized this hike.

Meet at the Kettle Moraine State Forest Southern Unit Headquarters parking lot off of HWY 59.
