Waukesha/Milwaukee Chapter Trail Improvement Day

September 28, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free
Ice Age Trail Alliance, Ice Age National Scenic Trail, Waukesha-Milwaukee Chapter, Trail Improvement Day

Join with our chapter and individuals across the country in celebrating National Public Lands Day! Each year, hundreds of thousands of volunteers nationwide come together on the fourth Saturday in September to assist with projects designed to restore and enhance public parks, forests, waterways and more. National Public Lands Day is the largest single-day volunteer effort on behalf of America’s public lands.

Help the Waukesha/Milwaukee Chapter celebrate National Public Lands Day at the Aldo Leopold Overlook in Hartland from 9 to noon. We are in the final stages of months-long work to clear the hillside and show buckthorn who’s boss. Who knows how many mature oaks and hickories we will find buried in the buckthorn!

All tools and training are provided – just bring a water bottle and appropriate work clothes, including sturdy gloves and footwear and long pants and sleeves. Insect repellant is recommended.

We will meet at the Maple Avenue Parking lot in Hartland.
Directions: From I94, follow Hwy 83 north to NorthShore Drive (Hwy KE). Turn right (east) on NorthShore Drive to Maple Ave.  Turn left (north) on Maple Ave. The lot is on the left. Watch for the yellow ICE AGE TRAIL EVENT signs and overflow parking signs.
