Waukesha/Milwaukee Chapter Tyke Hike
April 18, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
FreeCome on a Tyke Hike to explore Wisconsin’s own Ice Age National Scenic Trail! We will explore the Lapham Peak prairie area in the Kettle Moraine National Forest. Families with children of all ages are encouraged to attend!
Tyke Hikes are short, slow-paced hikes focused on exploration, discovery, service opportunities and natural play. They last approximately 1-2 hours and can cover up to 1.5 miles. Tyke Hikes are led by Peter Dargatz, a forest kindergarten teacher and Ice Age Trail volunteer. Most hikes include a picture book story and/ educational materials as well as certificates for children. Families will also receive a “nature challenge” activity to do until the next hike.
Hikers should dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable shoes/hiking boots. Water is recommended. A State Parks sticker is required to enter the park.
Come “get lost in the right direction” with us!
