Position Summary:
The Ice Age Trail Alliance (IATA) is seeking full-time (40 hours/week) Seasonal Trail Crew Members. The 5-person crew will perform trail maintenance projects in remote areas along the Ice Age National Scenic Trail. During the work week the crew will camp together near the work area. Work involves heavy lifting, digging, carrying, brush cutting and operation of power equipment. The crew will participate in IATA’s award-winning Mobile Skills Crew events. This is a seasonal position that begins early June and ends mid-August 2019.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and construct the Trail to National Scenic Trail standards
  • Perform daily work plans and participate in daily safety briefings
  • Use all equipment and tools safely and competently
  • Report near-misses, accidents, and issues to the Crew Leader
  • Contribute to a positive and safe team environment
  • Practice situational awareness
  • Work efficiently and effectively with other crew members
  • Be respectful and professional at all times with co-workers, trail users, volunteers and staff
  • Help maintain truck, trailer, tool inventory and equipment in good working order
  • Assist with base camp chores, meal preparation and cleaning shared spaces
  • Adhere to attendance and workplace attire policies
  • Perform related duties as required


  • Available for duration of entire season
  • Must be 18 years or older at time of hire
  • Be self-motivated and have a strong work ethic
  • Willingness to be outdoors for extended periods of time in all weather conditions
  • Desire to travel, camp, and work throughout Wisconsin
  • Ability to live and work with a group of diverse individuals
  • Ability to lift 50lbs and hike up to 10 miles a day
  • Personal gear required (please inquire about specific gear needs)
  • Legally able to work in U.S. for duration of season
  • Have reliable transportation to and from basecamp locations
