Full Moon Hike- Lodi Valley Chapter

The Hike:

Greetings hikers, walkers, strollers, and saunterers!
Join the Lodi Valley Chapter of the Ice Age Trail Alliance on Saturday, June 11th for our monthly full moon walk under the Strawberry Moon.
We will meet at the Twin Pines Trailhead on Lodi/Springfield Road at 7:30 pm and walk up the trail to take in the views of the Lodi Marsh and the moon. Depending on how energetic everyone is we might even go further…or not!

The wild strawberries that start to ripen during early summer gave name to the Full Moon in June. Other names of this Full Moon are Rose Moon, Hot Moon, and Mead Moon. For more information go to https://www.timeanddate.com/astronomy/moon/strawberry.html
The moon rises around 5:30 pm so it will be fairly light at the start of the walk, but we may need to rely on flashlights and headlamps by the end as the sun sets about 8:30 pm. Please wear appropriate clothing for the weather and bring along a flashlight or headlamp.  Well behaved, leashed dogs are always welcome.

Trail Work Day- Lodi Valley Chapter

The Event:

Greetings volunteers!

From now on for the rest of the trailbuilding year we will be turning our attention to improving our trails.

Our next work day will be Saturday, June 11th, meeting at the west Gibraltar Rock parking area on Hwy V, starting at 9:00 am, to start on a multi-day effort to improve the trail from the kiosk up to the Horton vista. We plan to work until about noon, but come for as much or as little time as you can give. Watch for the yellow Ice Age Trail Event signs.

We have a number of tasks for the day that include scraping and re-staining parts of the kiosk; clear brush along the re-location of the trail; de-berm sections of the tread and improve water diversions; refresh and repaint all the yellow blazes. Which tasks we attack that day will depend on the number of volunteers taking part.

This is a 10 year anniversary of this section of our trails as it was originally built in April 2013 by a state-wide Mobile Skills Crew project and involved the OSC charter school from Lodi.

All the tools will be provided, just wear long pants and sleeves with sturdy shoes, bring some water, work gloves (we’ll have extras to use), and your energetic attitude!
