Waukesha/Milwaukee Chapter Fall Mid-Week Hike: Parnell Segment

The Parnell Segment is somewhat challenging; parts of the Trail in this area can be steep and a rocky tread can lead to unsure footing. This section of the Parnell Segment will take us along some of the four-mile-long Parnell Esker.  One of the most striking and world-famous collections of kames in the world is found near the area between the trail and Hwy 67.

The Waterville Segment is a gently rolling, easy to moderate hike. We will see the transformation of this segment that has taken place over the last year: new boardwalks, extensive clearing, two new Dispersed Camping Areas, and several trail relocations including almost 1⁄2 mile now off Waterville Road.

Waukesha/Milwaukee Chapter Fall Mid-Week Hike: Monches Segment & Oconomowoc River Conservancy Park

WAMI, Monches Segment 5J6V+H2, Hartland, Wisconsin

A mature maple forest is the setting for much of the Monches Segment. The approximately 25-acre Oconomowoc River Conservancy Park provides passive recreational activities such as walking, hiking, skiing, wildlife observation and bird watching. It has been developed through a partnership between the Town of Merton and the Tall Pines Conservancy.

The Scuppernong Trails are located in the Southern Kettle Moraine State Forest. We will hike through rolling hills of oak forests and pine plantations. After going in and out of several kettles we will eventually end up at a beautiful overlook.
